Urban Empire Collectables – PSA Submission Terms & Conditions

1. Scope & Agreement

By submitting any item through Urban Empire Collectables for PSA grading, customers acknowledge and agree to these Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”). Urban Empire Collectables acts as an intermediary between the customer and PSA, and both grading companies are entitled to rely upon and benefit from this Agreement. Submission constitutes acceptance of these terms.

2. Grading Standards & Procedures

Grading and authentication are subjective professional opinions that may vary over time. PSA make no warranties regarding assigned grades except as outlined in their respective financial guarantees.

• Items showing evidence of trimming, recoloring, restoration, or tampering will not be graded, and associated fees are non-refundable once grading begins.

• Autographed items must pass both autograph authentication and item grading to be encapsulated. PSA may, at their sole discretion, label certain items “Authentic” if alterations are detected but the item is otherwise genuine.

• Grading turnaround times are estimates only; PSA and Urban Empire Collectables are not liable for delays.

3. Custody, Packaging & Transit

Urban Empire Collectables assumes custody of items only once they have been physically received at our store or authorised drop-off location. From that point forward, Urban Empire Collectables is responsible for all packaging, documentation, and insured transit to and from PSA.

Customers must ensure that items are accurately declared and handed over in person. Once received, Urban Empire Collectables may photograph or record each item for internal tracking before packaging. Customers are not required to provide their own packaging or shipping insurance once the item is in Urban Empire Collectables’ possession.

Custody of the item ends once the graded item has been made available for collection or delivery to the customer. Items not collected within 30 days of notification may incur storage fees or be returned at the customer’s expense.

4. Insurance & Risk Disclosure

Urban Empire Collectables maintains transit/marine insurance for shipments between its facility and PSA. This insurance is subject to the insurer’s terms, limits, and exclusions, and does not guarantee a successful claim or payout.

In the event of loss or damage during insured transit, any compensation (if approved by the insurer) will be based on the verified declared value or insurer’s settlement amount — whichever is lower. Urban Empire Collectables’ liability, if any, shall not exceed the lesser of the item’s declared value or the amount actually recovered under its insurance coverage.

The declared value represents the customer’s own estimate of fair market value and is used solely for insurance and shipping purposes. Urban Empire Collectables does not verify declared values and is not responsible for inaccuracies or underinsurance resulting from incorrect declarations.

5. Chain of Custody

Urban Empire Collectables maintains submission logs and, where applicable, intake photos or recordings for items received. If photos or records are taken, they will be retained as part of Urban Empire Collectables’ internal documentation and used to verify authenticity and condition prior to submission.

Once items are sealed and dispatched to PSA, custody transfers to PSA or their authorised carrier. Urban Empire Collectables is not responsible for discrepancies alleged to have occurred while items were in Beckett’s or the carrier’s possession.

6. Tampering or Substitution Allegations

Any claim that an item was switched, altered, or replaced must be supported by verifiable, time-stamped photographic or video evidence clearly showing the card’s identifiable features before submission. In the absence of such evidence, any internal photos or records taken by Urban Empire Collectables (if available) shall be deemed conclusive.

Urban Empire Collectables will not accept liability for claims of substitution or tampering once a card has been lodged with PSA or returned sealed in their packaging.

7. Liability & Compensation

Urban Empire Collectables and PSA will exercise reasonable care in handling all submissions. If an item is lost or damaged while in PSA’s possession, compensation (if applicable) will be based on fair market value determined by PSA’s standard procedures and will not exceed the declared value.

Declared value is used only for estimating insurance coverage and may differ from actual market value. Customers must inspect returned items within five (5) days of collection and report any concerns immediately. Claims made after this period will not be accepted.

Urban Empire Collectables is not liable for any grading outcomes, errors, delays, or handling issues caused by PSA or their agents. Any concerns relating to grading accuracy, encapsulation, or turnaround times must be directed to PSA in accordance with their published policies.

8. Payment Terms, Security Interest & Uncollected Submissions

Customers agree to pay all grading and handling fees when due. Unpaid balances accrue interest at 10% per annum (or the maximum rate permitted by law). PSA may hold a security interest and lien over submitted items until full payment is received.

If any submission remains unpaid or uncollected for more than 90 days after notification, Urban Empire Collectables may, after reasonable notice, sell or dispose of the item(s) to recover outstanding fees and costs. Any surplus funds will be held for the customer for 90 days in accordance with the Uncollected Goods Act 1995 (NSW).

9. Data Ownership, Image Rights & Privacy

PSA may photograph and record data for each submitted item (including grade, condition, and identity). All such data and images are the exclusive property of PSA and may be used for research, publication, or marketing. Urban Empire Collectables may reference this information for legitimate business or promotional use.

Urban Empire Collectables collects customer information solely for processing grading submissions and related communications. Personal data is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and will not be shared except as required to complete the grading process with PSA.

10. Jurisdiction & Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and any disputes involving Urban Empire Collectables shall be resolved within that jurisdiction. PSA’s published terms also apply to all submissions. If any clause is found invalid, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

11. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the applicable PSA customer agreements, form the entire understanding between Urban Empire Collectables and the customer. No prior or verbal agreements shall modify these terms unless confirmed in writing by Urban Empire Collectables.
